Caregivers have assisted their clients with a variety of conditions, including those with:
- Memory Impairment
- Brain Injury
- Emotional issues
Many of our independent caregivers have nursing assistant (C.N.A.) or other healthcare-related backgrounds, such as nursing, massage or acupuncture studies. They specialize in “medical” care giving, including hospice care. Caregivers must have basic care giving skills and experience, as well as interpersonal skills, in order to be placed on our registry. Additionally, caregivers are required to have their own cell phone, cars and e-mail, for quick response.
Caregivers are screened in a 6-part screening process:
- Phone screening
- 1:1 interview with recruiter
- Group interview and quiz
- Work references verified
- Criminal background check, including driving history (every 3 years)
- Ongoing client feedback
The caregivers' individual liability policy does not cover caregivers while driving. We check caregiver auto insurance cards upon admittance to our registry, but cannot guarantee that it remains current after they are accepted. Therefore, clients should verify that caregiver auto insurance is current, or consider providing their own transportation.
Consumers should check homeowner’s insurance for adequate liability coverage.
Caregiver Connection, Inc. is a referral service that refers screened and qualified caregivers with clients who hire them directly for a referral fee. Caregivers are considered domestic employees of clients when they earn over $2,000 in a calendar year. We recommend consulting with a tax or accounting professional and/or enlisting a payroll service such as MyHomePay or Paychex.
Paychex - Visit the Paychex website or contact Zach Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org or 503.277.0296.
Domestic employers are not required to carry Worker's Compensation insurance on independent caregivers in Oregon. Worker’s compensation is not covered in this arrangement. Caregivers are covered for liability for their own "errors" while in your home.
